Protein at bedtime

Many forget about nutrition during the sleeping hours. Your body, in an attempt to maintain homeostasis, attacks your muscles by depleting protein stores. In order to help prevent the loss of hard earned muscle, it is recommended that you consume protein, specifically casein protein, before bed.

Casein protein is known to take up to seven hours to digest. This means that your body will absorb precious amino acids all night long. Of course, due to its digestive time, casein protein is not recommended for your post workout meals.
