Protect your traveling Apple gadgets with OtterBox cases

Someone once observed that half of all IPad 2s end up  either drowned by an errant splash of water from a mega-yacht's bow, cracked after being sat on by a champagne-soaked super model, or smashed on camera by a Comedy Central wiseacre whose initials are Daniel Tosh.

And with no concierge in sight, there goes your San Diego itinerary, flight numbers, in-flight entertainment, navigator, and worst of all, no Angry Birds.

Since more than 500,000 of the  $500-plus, oh-so-cool Apple gizmos have been sold, that's an expensive pile of traveling paperweights.

To ensure your status symbol remains an indispensable accoutrement while you flit about the globe this summer, it might be worth the $90 or so to invest in some sort of protection.

The Ipad 2 Defender Series from Otterbox of Colorado is herewith presented for your consideration.

OtterBox CEO Curt Richardson opines that the company's product maximizes protection "without  sacrificing portability."

The product features a "clear, hi-impact polycarbonate shell" packed with memory foam pads and a "rugged, black silicone jacket" to protect against those inevitable shocks and bumps.  External connectors keep your precious MePad(™) safe from dust and dirt.

And bonus! At least at the time of this writing. Buy an iPad 2 Defender Series case  and get a self-adhering screen protector free.

The company notes that you'll still need to keep your OtterBox protected gadget clear of the mega-yacht's bow. It's is not 100-percent water proof.

And yes, they make similar devices for the IPhone, Blackberry and, of course, the proverbial more.
