Prosecutors want death penalty for parents charged with killing 6-week-old son

Along the banks of the tranquil Susquehanna River near Lancaster, Pa. rests the town of Columbia, where tranquility was horribly shattered by the alleged beating death of 6-week-old Andrew Moyer Jr. at the hands of his abusive parents on Oct. 18, 2012.

Today, prosecutors in the case against the parents Andrew Moyer, 24, and Brianna Michael, 23, announced that they’d be seeking the death penalty for both parents who have already been charged with the infant’s murder.

Each of the parents are charged with homicide, conspiracy and child-abuse according to Lancaster Online.

Reportedly, the beating death of Andrew Jr. took place over a series of days with prosecutors believing that the fatal blow, a knee to the baby’s head, was the hit that finally killed him.

Prosecutors state that the fatal knee to the head came from the baby’s father.

Andrew Moyer and Brianna Michael are both being held at the Lancaster County Prison without bail.

Pa. District Attorney Christopher Larsen said:

"We look forward to presenting evidence to a jury and obtaining justice for this most innocent victim of this most violent crime."
