Prosecutor uses gas cans to prove Jodi Arias planned murder and trips her up

Jodi Arias who is on trial for the brutal murder of her ex-boyfriend, Travis Alexander. Arias continues to claim that she killed him in self defense however the prosecutor is using her gas can purchases as evidence that she planned the murder.

Prosecuting attorney Juan Martinez used cold-hard facts during his re-questioning. One of those facts was the gas can purchases she made for her road trip.

Jodi Arias planned a road trip to her new boyfriend’s home in Salt Lake City. After leaving from her Yreka, Cali. Home, instead of heading to her destination, she took a detour to her ex-boyfriend Travis Alexander’s home in Mesa, AZ.

Arias explained the gas cans and the purchases she made. “I put gas in them in Pasadena, but I don’t know if I filled them to the brim. I wouldn’t bet all my money on what it was. I can only go on receipts and times.”

Martinez used Arias’ words against her when he said, “Nobody was yelling at you at the time, you have been fond of telling us how great a memory you have when no one is grilling you.”

Martinez hammered his point home. “Why did you show up with three gas cans in Salt Lake City?

Jodi Arias responded, “I went to Mesa with two gas cans. I left Ryan’s house in the early morning hours and put gas in the car at 3:37 a.m.”

Martinez is trying to prove premeditation in Travis Alexander’s heinous murder. He’s building his case in an effort to show the jury that the reason Jodi Arias had gas can’s in her car was so that she wouldn’t leave any paper trail in the state of Arizona.

Jodi Arias was asked point blank, “How can you say that you don’t have memory issues when you say you can’t remember how you stabbed him so many times and slashed his throat?”

Arias answered the question, “Well, I think that I have a good memory. June 4 is an anomaly for me.” She was also asked direct questions about her and Alexander’s sex life.

“If you were truly scared, why let Travis tie you up during sex”, is one question she had to answer. Another one posed by Judge Sherry Stevens was, “Did you enjoy having sex with Travis?”

To lose questions, Jodi answered “For the most part, yes I did.” One juror who openly questioned Jodi Arias’ ability to tell the truth. The juror asked her, “Would you decide to tell the truth if you never got arrested?”

Jodi Arias answered, “I honestly don’t know the answer to that question. Lying isn’t typically something I just do.”

“I am not going to saw I have never told a lie in my life before this. But the lies I have told in this case can be tied directly back to protecting Travis’ reputation or my involvement in his death in any way.”
