Proposed tv reality series could be the real help crime victims are looking for!

About the Founders

Two victims of crime are proposing a TV reality series called Journey to Survival. The show will focus on the plight of crime victims, while offering viewers insights into how to avoid becoming a victim themselves. Robin who is 28 has confronted the tyranny of an ex-boyfriend who has stalked, harassed and threatened her life for years. Jeff who is 55 lived through a 2 year stalking and harassment campaign which led to his being shot six times in May of 2006. Journey to Survival is their way of sharing what they have learned with others going through similar difficulties while educating the public about issues that crime victims face.

About the Project

As victim advocates we know that even when a victim survives his or her assault moving on is not so easy. All too often victims see their attackers serve minimal time or go free, while they serve the life sentence—of fear, physical and emotional scarring, ruined finances, inability to hold a job, damaged relationships, and more.

With crime shows, memoirs, tabloids, televised trials and more it’s the criminals who garner our attention—while the plight of victims is largely ignored. Journey to Survival proposes to change this by focusing on a victim of domestic violence, elder abuse, stalking, sex-trafficking, sexual assault and other crimes.

A victim advocate and a team of experts from the legal, law enforcement, counseling and medical services, security, and/or finance fields will work real-time with the victim, helping them to address their issues. Journey to Survival will also raise public awareness about the inadequacy of legal resources and judicial procedures available to victims.
How You Can Help

Journey to Survival will be attempting to win support from the Pepsi Cola Corporation that is offering grants to help fund community projects. The program is called the Pepsi Refresh Project. Each month grant applicant’s projects are listed on www.refresheverything.com. The public chooses the recipients by placing a daily vote for up to ten ideas they support.

You can help Journey to Survival win this grant by voting and encouraging folks that support victim advocacy to simply click a vote on the Pepsi website, at www.refresheverything.com/journeytosurvival every day during September. For daily reminders and a link to vote, join our Facebook group (search Journey to Survival Groups and click “join”).
