Pretty much every time I'm in Sephora to try out a new product, I end up wandering around the store looking like I've gotten into a fistfight with something bright and colorful. When I went in there to play with Urban Decay's 24/7 Glide-On Shadow Pencils, well, that visit was no exception!
I had to try out every bright, wild color--from purples like Delinquent (darker) and Morphine (brighter and lighter) to sparkly, bold teals (Clinic) and turquoises (Clash). In the end, though, I bought just two colors (at $20 each, these aren't the cheapest eyeshadow options out there): Mercury (gunmetal gray, shimmery and metallic) and Midnight Cowboy (beige infused with silver sparkle). Out of the whole array of colors (twelve in all), those two were the ones I could see myself wearing the most.
This product is similar to Urban Decay's 24/7 Eyeliners, but...bigger, chunkier! And better, too. I could never make that eyeliner stay on without primer. These shadow pencils, though, will stay on most of the day without primer--and when they do start to come off, they just look a little...less bright. They seem to fade a little rather than crease or smear...and I have oilier eyelids, so those of you who don't have this issue will likely see longer staying power from this product.
It's easy to apply these eyeshadows. Use 'em like crayons! But be careful--if you use too heavy a hand, you're going to look like a clown--these are VERY pigmented. Use a somewhat light touch to apply them, and if you want to blend them, blend fast! They set very quickly. I still haven't mastered blending two of them together...but I have been able to smudge the shadow once it's on my eyelids so that it's not as heavy of a look. Better smudge quickly, though!
The colors in this collection of shadow pencils are awesome, and their staying power's excellent. It's unfortunate that they're so pricy, and it would be nice if the shadows blended better/more easily, though. These shadow pencils are a must-buy as long as you don't mind that it can be difficult to blend the colors.
