Prominent Cedartown attorney arrested on theft and forgery charges

 A well known prominent Cedartown attorney was arrested earlier today as a result of an investigation conducted by  agents of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

 The investigation resulted in thirteen warrants charging the attorney with theft and forgery charges. 

 
Miles L. Gammage, of The Gammage Firm in Cedartown, Ga., was booked into the Polk County jail at 8:11 a.m. this morning. The Gammage Firm specializes in workmans compensation claims.

The investigation began as a result of several complaints filed by clients of Gammage claiming that they did not receive money owed to them from workman's compensation settlements. 
 
The Polk County District Attorney's office contacted an outside agency (GBI) to investigate the claims. It is common to call in an outside agency in such situations.  After investigating the claims, the GBI determined that there was sufficient evidence to to warrant an arrest.
 
The GBI issued the thirteen warrants charging Miles L. Gammage P.C., with one count of felony theft by taking, six counts of felony theft by conversion and six counts of felony first-degree forgery. Gammage was released within two hours after book in after bonding out on a $65, 600.00 property bond.
