Ever wish back in high school that you could go to the prom with the person you really wanted? For many LGBTQ youth the prom is an evening of hiding behind the correct gender date or just missing out on the fun all together. Well, it doesn’t have to be that way…
The Trevor Project’s Trevor NextGen will be celebrating its second annual Prom – a fundraiser supporting the organization’s life-saving work for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) youth on May 31.
PROM: A NIGHT OUT FOR TREVOR will be hosted by YouTube sensations Jessica and Hunter, and include special performances by singer/songwriter Eli Lieb (Young Love) and RuPaul’s Drag Race favorite Shangela.
Trevor NextGen’s Prom will take place under the stars on the rooftop of the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles on Saturday, May 31.
Additional performers and celebrity guests will be announced soon.
“In one spectacular evening, we seek to create a prom experience that many members of the LGBT community have never had,” say Trevor NextGen LA Co-Chairs Adam Hunt and Grant Sloss. “Discrimination, ridicule, and harassment have caused many LGBTQ teens and adults to associate this iconic school event with pain, loneliness, and heartbreak. A NIGHT OUT FOR TREVOR provides a second chance to enjoy this memorable milestone with love, support, and pride.”
Founded in 1998 by the creators of the Academy Award®-winning short film TREVOR, The Trevor Project is the leading national organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) young people ages 13-24.
