Normally I wouldn't write an article about some place I don't intend to sight see personally. I am making an exception in this case. I would go to this event if I didn't already have plans to celebrate my Uncle Larry's birthday, December 13th, and to attend the attempt to break the spinning dreidel world record at the lighting of the third candle of the Menorah at the Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica.
The Project Warmth: Holiday Fundraiser and Warm Goods Drive is an opportunity to spread the WARMTH...spread the love...and have some fun too! It's a chance to party and give back.
So gather any of your old blankets, jackets, sweatshirts, scarves, gloves, hats and socks to give the gift of warmth this holiday season. While the hosts of this event don't mention this, I will. It would be most appreciated if the items you bring to donate are clean or as clean as possible while still in fairly good condition. Please think the golden rule, which isn't he who has the most gold rules. It's do unto others as you would have them do unto you. I'm just sayin'!
The event is Sunday, December 13, 2009 from 4 to 9 PM at uWink Bistro, which is located on the 4th Floor of the Hollywood and Highland Complex in Hollywood. This is an opportunity to gather and socialize with other like-minded individuals while eating, drinking and being merry. Also, there will be music and games. If you do not bring any items to donate, a $5 donation is requested at the door. You may call 310.571.8501 for more info.
After reading about the uWink facility, not only does this event seem like it is for a good cause; but it sounds like a fun venue to check out at least once, especially if you are a fan of technology. Plus, the event is a great excuse to visit what is now considered the heart of Hollywood for tourists, (Hollywood and Highland) to see how Hollywood has decked its halls for the holidays.
Here's to warmth for all and Hooray for Hollywood. Too cliché?
