Once again, not only the designers, but viewers as well find themselves surprised by the new turn of events. This season on Project Runway is all about teams, yes, all 16 contestants were divided into teams of 8. There’s the Dream Team, who by the way have lost twice in a row, and then Keeping It Real, who are cohesive, well rounded and have found the niche in each one of it’s members; thus, creating garments in both shows that not only have marked them as winners, but also, exemplify creativity and elegance.
It is traditional for these reality shows to have one contestant who from the beginning makes him or herself, dislikeable to the point where viewers just want to see them go, however, on this season since the them is about teams, not one single designer have brought forth that attitude that makes just about everyone cringe. There are egos of course, otherwise, they would not be where they are, much less be great at what they do, but there is an understanding and desire for everyone to help out so that their team is the winner, consequently the individual not risking elimination.
Last night the challenge consisted of creating outfits for the staff of Spin, an ping-pong bar owned by Susan Sarandon, and indeed, the winning team created some magnificent garments that will be worn by the staff of this at all their locations throughout the country. Project Runway airs on Thursday night at 9:00 pm eastern time on Lifetime. Next week’s show promises to again astound and of course make us giggle with some outfits that to say the least, leave a lot to be desired.
