‘Project Runway’ native designer Patricia Michaels is ‘Never Boring’

Project Runway” airs on the ‘Lifetime’ cable TV network each Thursday night at 9/8 p.m. (check your local listings). You can watch recap episodes streaming online at the ‘Lifetime’ official website. Fans & customers can also bid then purchase the fashion designs made by each contestant. That includes all creations by Patricia Michaels who is the first Native American to appear on the reality competition TV show. This is the 11th season & last night Feb. 21, 2013 ‘Matt’ was the latest designer to be sent home. The host of the show Heidi Klume reminded each designer that within the fashion industry, “One day you’re in and the next day you’re out.”

According to the official ‘Lifetime’ website the 5th episode synopsis titled, ‘A Little Bit Country, A Little Bit Rock-N-Roll’ is right here - “The teams get another big shake up and learn their next challenge is to design a performance look and red carpet look for country superstar - Grammy Award winning singer- Miranda Lambert who also guest judges.”

Both teams were paired off last night with partners of two. Patricia chose Layanna as her partner. All designers had 30 minutes to sketch & discuss their ideas. Patricia wanted to create a native design that is not sold in stores. She chose to make a performance dress for Miranda Lambert. She also knew what she wanted & got right to work with no fuss what-so-ever.

All designers received $400 to spend on fabric & only 30 minutes to buy their materials. They had one day to piece it all together. Fashion guru Tim Gunn went to each couple to critique & give support. He said he was worried about Patricia because at first he wanted to, “Run For the Hills!” He then said that she was, "Never Boring."

Michelle continued to complain, worry & fuss over everything. She imitated the voice of the fashion judge named, ‘Nina’ that seemed funny to other designers - but it came off as angry, insecure & petty. All the designers were judging each other except Patricia who just went right on working. All of them had to work on their own besides with their teams & their designs suffered for it. Patricia & three other designers were saved by the judges. They all moved onto round 6 of the competition.

Richard won this week’s challenge & Miranda Lambert will wear his fashion design during one of her performances. The judges called his design “Cool”, “Plays it up”, “Stood out” & “Loved it!”

Samantha, Daniel, Matt & yet again Michelle received the lowest scores for their designs. Samantha won last week’s challenge & she received immunity by going onto the 6th round. The judges called Michelle’s design, “Complete bad taste” - Daniel’s design, “Not red carpet worthy”, “Tin Foil” - Samantha’s design, “I would wear your outfit instead of the one you designed” - Matt’s design, “No confidence”, “No shine” & “Little movement.” Matt was sent home by the judges.

Patricia Michaels made it to the 6th round on “Project Runway” with a new judge (Joan Rivers), a new challenge & more fashion designs.
