‘Project Runway’ judges praise Patricia Michaels for being ‘different’

Project Runway” gave the TV audience & all the designers a shock at the end of last night’s episode Mar. 7, 2013. The cable TV network fashion show airs every Thursday night on the ‘Lifetime’ channel at 9/8 p.m. (Check your local listings). Two designers were sent home instead of one & it was the Kate & Tu team. The winner was surprisingly Michelle who continues to be the most aggressive & complaining contestant this TV season. She chose her partner in Amanda & the judges loved their dress design. Native American designer Patricia Michaels partnered with Samantha Black. The host Heidi Klume said that they came in a very close second place. Patricia continues to be different & original in her design ideas even with a team partner.

According to the official website of “Project Runway” the 7th episode was called ‘A Sticky Situation.’ Here is the synopsis, - “Air Date: 3/7/2013. Some designers get "stuck" with the next challenge when they must create fashion forward prom wear made out of duct tape - leading to a shocking elimination no one sees coming. Designer Chris Benz serves as guest judge.”

This week’s team challenge had all the designers create a prom dress for high school students out of ‘Duct Tape.’ Those students got to see all the dresses that were designed & they also voted for the one they liked the most. Patricia & Samantha had asked some of the students what they could do to make their dress better. The school teens voted Patricia & Samantha’s dress as the best & it went into part of the final judging process. The winning design of the challenge won $5,000 which would go to the “Autism Speaks” charity. Michelle won this week’s team challenge.

The pressure is on right now & all the designers are beginning to ‘snip’ at each other more. Michelle is now acting like a child in the 'playground' who feels bullied. On camera - she complained that Daniel & Richard took all the gold duct tape. She even targeted Patricia again by saying that she is still a ‘toothache’ to her. Plus, why did Samantha let Patricia get away with their design? Patricia has only taken the high road & worries about only her teammate with their fashion challenge. She refuses to be drawn into Michelle’s drama. Patricia’s maturity in the age of ‘Reality TV’ is refreshing.

Kate & Tu’s dress was panned by the judges. Daniel & Richard barely made it through because the judges hated their 1980s dress design. Heidi Klume was very direct toward Kate & Tu, - “You’re out!” It shocked everyone including Patricia who partnered with Kate earlier this season. A lot of tears were shed. Heidi always says that within the fashion industry, “One day you’re in & the next day you’re out.”

Here is what the judges said about Patricia & Samantha’s dress design which came from ‘Duct Tape’, - “Loved it”, “The back is fabulous”, ‘Wonderful”, "Katy Perry moment”, “Bell of the ball”, “Not surprised that high school kids liked it”, “Patricia is different”, “It feels like nature” & “The dress is now.” (BTW, I love Patricia’s sexy model with whom she had used all this TV season).

Native American fashion designer Patricia Michaels will head into episode 8 with another challenge, a different judge & more fashion designs.
