Project Ethos has landed

On Friday, May 20th, 2011, Scottsdale witnessed a spectacular event full with non-stop entertainment from Arizona artists, musicians, designers and even local sports celebrities.  The company behind this grand production is none other than Los Angeles based Project Ethos, which made Scottsdale their fourth stop on a nine city tour.

As I had the honor of being one of the five designers in the vitaminwater zero™ Flavor Fashionista Challenge for Arizona, I can tell you that Project Ethos is a well oiled machine.  It’s no wonder that they cannot be contained in one city alone.  I interacted with many of the employees throughout the day and each one of them is as talented as the people they showcase.  There is no doubt that they spend a lot of time on research when they choose the music, artists and designers for each event.

When they arrived in Scottsdale, they definitely brought their A-game when they chose to work with artists like Nick Georgiou who brings unwanted day old newspaper to life in his sculptures, the band Snake! Snake! Snakes! who can liven up a crowd the instant they say their name,  co-host and Arizona Cardinals safety Kerry Rhodes and of course choosing designers from different genres of fashion.

Among my  (Jennyvi Dizon’s) competition for the night were last year’s Scottsdale Fashion Designer of the Year, Rebecca Turley, well known designer Tiffe Fermaint, green friendly MongKieu Tran and the winner of the vitaminwater zero™ Flavor Fashionista Challenge for Arizona, Shantidas Contu-Owen with her orange and blue gown for the flavor "drive."

Obviously, there is only one winner when competitions and prizes are involved, but I consider all of us winners for attracting Project Ethos to Scottsdale and bringing in an audience of over a thousand people which included Phoenix Suns Forward Hakim Warrick.  The only hope now is that they continue to have events in the valley and that we can continue to support them.
