Art, music, and fashion came together in a fantastic way at the Avalon on Tuesday, March 12 when Project Ethos made its mark on LA Fashion Week. A protruding runway on the event floor started the fashion center stage and the models as well as designers made sure it ended there. The outfits included many fun pieces, including courageous speedos, flamboyant leopard-print harem pants, and powerful lace-up leather boots. The designers used the models themselves to add energy to the outfits. Many of the models sported landscaping tattoos that covered arms, chests, and even a face. The fashion reflected the urban lifestyle as well as casual chicness that is prevalent throughout the city. This was fashioned destined to be unveiled in Los Angeles.
Fashion shows throughout the evening featured designs from Traver Rains (T. Rains), Daniel Bohbot (Hale Bob), Michael Costello, Andrew Christian, Maor Luz (Maor Apparel), Michael Kuluva (Tumbler and Tipsy), Siann Marlowe (The Ras Collection), Deanna Richmond (Deandri), Pas Pour Toi, Haus of PinkLemonaid, and Farahourani, blending LA favorites with the best of emerging talent. Hair and make-up was styled by TNT Agency with hair product provided by Sebastian Professional.
The art reflected the city’s culture and history as well. Numerous artists displayed celebrity portraits that were created out of various media, from acrylic paint to newspaper clippings. Although this is certainly a reflection of LA culture, it’s definitely a reflection that can tire a girl out. There was other art, however, that incorporated other aspects of LA culture. Many paintings included interesting images incorporating the recognizable Dia De Los Muertes skeletons are seen so frequently in Hispanic art.
DJ Aaron Colbert did a fantastic job bringing it all together. The play list included the expected electronic music, but included flairs of recognizable songs that kept me tapping my feet and smiling in nostalgia throughout the night.
Overall, Project Ethos was a brilliant must-attend event. The noteworthy models and vibrant colors encapsulates the animated flair that is so uniquely Los Angeles.
