As the state’s leading antihunger organization, Project Bread is dedicated to alleviating, preventing and ultimately ending hunger in Massachusetts. Through The Walk for Hunger, the oldest continual pledge walk in the country, and other sources, Project Bread provides millions of dollars each year in privately donated funds to support hunger relief through emergency programs, schools, community health centers, farmers’ markets, community suppers, home care organizations, and other programs that protect the individual and strengthen our community food security.
Project Bread announced that for the third year in a row, Rodney Strong Vineyards, one of Sonoma County’s finest family owned and operated wineries, is donating $7,000 to help feed hungry people in Massachusetts this winter. With over 750,000 people struggling to put food on their tables in the state, this donation will provide approximately 14,000 meals during the holiday season.
Rodney Strong Vineyards is dedicated to crafting world-class wines that capture the essence of Sonoma County. Rodney Strong grows and produces wines exclusively from four of Sonoma County’s finest appellations—Alexander Valley, Russian River Valley, Chalk Hill and Sonoma Coast. The winery was founded in 1959 by Sonoma County wine pioneer Rodney D. Strong as the 13th bonded winery in the county. Today, the winery is privately owned by the Klein family, a fourth generation California agricultural family.
“Our company strongly values the concept of community, a community where folks work toward a common good for the sake of one another,” says Carmen Castaldi, senior vice president of sales and marketing at Rodney Strong Vineyards. “Rodney Strong’s contributions at home in Sonoma County and throughout the United States, such as this with Project Bread, are about providing resources for those in need.”
“We are pleased that Rodney Strong is continuing this campaign for the third year,” said Ellen Parker, executive director of Project Bread. “During a time when more and more people are struggling to feed their families, Rodney Strong’s ongoing commitment to helping those in need is the right thing to do.”
