Right, that's the focus of the week ladies (and gentlemen, of course, don't want to leave you out), making sure you get yourself in the picture at least part of the time. First though, a big congratulations to those of you that have made it this far. Can you believe week six is out already?
You know what, making it this far is cause for celebration. Here's why:
1. Everyone has went back to work an school
2. You still have to do all the grocery shopping, laundry, cleaning, banking, and doctor appointments.
3. In some cases you are a student yourself, and you have homework, sports practice and games, tests to study for, and club meetings to attend or volunteer hours to complete.
4. Parents of school-age children, you take part in all these things too, but as the chauffer and the tutor and the member of the PTA and the homeroom volunteer or dance chaperone.
So you've taken pictures of the main events (going to dances, weddings etc.) and the weekly routines (laundry, grocery shopping); and you planned ahead and haven't let any of the sad depressing stuff stop you from taking your picture a day (yay for you). But here's the thing:
In the rush of the day to day, you take the photo of the day, then pat yourself on the back for job well done without even think about this one thing: this is the story of your life as much as it is about the lives of your family and friends. That little detail right there is kind of a big deal. How many pictures in your stack of 43 have you in them? Not many? Not any? Well, let's change that shall we? Here are a few ways to get yourself in the picture:
1. Give someone else the camera. This might sound obvious, but really. If you give someone else the camera, you can take that family photo or get a picture of you playing with your kids or your cat.
2. A lot of newer cameras and phones have a feature where if you turn the camera on yourself, you can see what the shot is going to look like even before you take the picture...simple, easy, painless.
3. If you have an older model camera, get familiar with your self-timer, it will be your best friend in the future if not now.
So get out there and turn the camera on yourself. This is your life go capture it. See you all at the end of week seven for another installment of Project 366. Thanks for reading, and I hope this column continues to inspire you.
