Prognostic Sphinx is one of the newest "Theros" spoilers revealed today Sept. 10, 2013 from Wizards of the Coast's upcoming expert "Magic: The Gathering" expansion set in a tweet by @Wizards_Magic. This rare blue creature can help you dig deep into your deck and can help ensure that the card you draw every turn is a useful one.

Discard a card: Prognostic Sphinx gains hexproof until end of turn. Tap it.
Whenever Prognostic Sphinx attacks, scry 3.
(Look at the top three cards of your library, then put any number of them on the bottom of your library and the rest on the top in any order.)
3/5

Just one instance of Prognostic Sphinx's triggered ability can have a devastating impact for your opponent, never mind doubling up thanks to Strionic Resonator. With a toughness of five Prognostic Sphinx can block Stormbreath Dragon before it becomes monstrous and is out of range from both Mizzium Mortars and Warleader's Helix. Although it'll cost you a card to protect Prognostic Sphinx from other targeted removal like Chained to the Rocks it's a small price to keep this creature alive. If the card that you've discarded is a large creature with a useful "enters the battlefield" ability like Ashen Rider you'll be able to reanimate it with Whip of Erebos.

There's many different directions you can take building around Prognostic Sphinx. It'll pump Flamespeaker Adept and help mitigate lifeloss from Duskmantle Seer. If you're playing a combo deck it won't be long until you find all the missing pieces.

Prognostic Sphinx is an absolute bomb in limited that you don't want to pass in draft or ignore in your sealed pool. It'll help you find your other threats and removal spells to secure your victory.

Prognostic Sphinx also has an epic beard.

How will you use Prognostic Sphinx?
