Profiles in leadership: Susan Sanders of AtHomeNet

Following the recent announcement by the Community Advocacy Network - Florida and AtHomeNet, I had the opportunity to interview the CEO of AtHomeNet, Inc., Mrs. Susan Sanders. Along with her husband, Mrs. Sanders runs one of the largest website hosting services for homeowners' associations in the country.

1) How long have you served in your current position? Since the company was founded in 1998. (You can learn more about how the company was founded on this page of our website: http://www.athomenet.com/about-athomenet.asp. There’s even a video of Jeff and Susan describing how they got into the industry.)

2) What is your favorite thing about your job? That every day is different. I’m the kind of person who rearranges the living room furniture once a month just to keep things fresh, so having the opportunity to work with our Sales Team on a new pitch, then our  Accounting Team on 2012 budgets and then our Support Team with a customer makes me happy.

3) When did you decide to become involved in website development? So far back that when we started our company and I would go into a management company office,  the owner would say “That Internet, it’s just a fad and won’t be around for long”.. thank heaven for those early adopters!

4) What is your favorite part about working with HOAs?  Bringing technology to what is often a very paper intensive environment.

5) What advice would you give someone interested in a career in internet business?  Come up with a great idea and stick with it!

The West Palm Beach HOA Examiner wishes to thank Mrs. Sanders and her staff for the opportunity to conduct this interview, and looks forward to the continued success of the company, and continued cooperation in the future.

Be sure to subscribe to this column, and stay abreast of issues involving you, the homeowners of Palm Beach County! If you've had any issues with your HOA that you'd like me to try and delve into, and possibly write about later,  please let me know.
