Modeling since 14, statuesque Jordan Lopez is making a bid for the big time in New York. At the suggestion of a friend, she moved here with nothing more than a dream and has started to make progress in the industry doing shows at Fashion Week.
While many girls dream of being a model, Jordan has the intelligence (as well as the beauty) to make it happen. Her mother, Darlene managed her career at first; but since turning 18 Jordan has stepped up. With her huge hazel eyes and business mind, she stays focused and comitted to success. She worked as a runway and print model in Chicago, but knows that it's New York where models are made or broken.
Currently living in a model apartment in Spanish Harlem, she's been working out and getting in shape to go after representation from reputable agencies like Wilhelmina, Ford, or IMG after NYFW. Her long range plans include working in Milan and becoming a model for Victoria's Secret. For fall/winter 2011 she's done a show for beauty company Nexxus, and a runway show for up-and coming designer Farai Simoyi. The show at Helen Mills event space was attended by editors from Elle and Essence, the perfect exposure for a young model.
Jordan keeps a good attitude while waiting for jobs (right now, she's waiting for a call-back from the Gap) and going to castings and fittings for shows. Even after getting up at 5 a.m. to do the show for Farai, she still walked to a casting at high-end retailer Sarar, and then headed to another casting for designer Indashio. (update: she ended up walking in the designer's show.)
Before leaving, she professed her feelings for the Big Apple. "I thought that LA was going to be my city, but when I got there, everything got turned around. I really like New York. I feel like I belong here. I feel like a New York girl now."
