Professional Jazz Concerts at Western Connecticut Provide Exciting Entertainment

The Music Department at Western CT State University offers a Bachelor's of Music in Jazz Studies. The department has an excellent jazz orchestra directed by Jamie Begian that has several concerts by student though out the year at White Hall in Ives Concert Hall. This Sunday October 9 at 3 pm. the orchestra had their Holiday Jazz Concert.

The orchestra played It's The Most Wonderful Time of the Year, Stoned Soul Picnic, Up Up and Away, Christmas Time Is Here, Tayloration I and Winter Wonderland. There was a large audience that turned up for the late afternoon Sunday performance.

The jazz orchestra has saxaphones, trumpets, trombones, rhythm, vocal, violins, viola, cello, double bass, flute and mallets. It has concerts during the week and weekends throughout the school months with different theme and focus. Jamie Begian assistant professor of music has created a orchestra that is competitive and unique. This 17 piece band has received recognition over the last several years for its many concerts.

Most concerts are free but the department always welcome donations. Donations help students and facility continue providing excellent entertainment to the community.
