"Argo" will be all the talk as the SAG Awards get ready to be handed out Sunday. Why? It won the top prize from the Producers Guild of America Saturday night (Jan. 26).
On many aspects of life, follow the money. With that noted, the Producers Guild of America has picked "Argo" as the best film. But, it also sets up the possibility that the Oscar's best film and best director will go to different films. That is a trait that doesn't happen often when Oscar comes around, but to many, it may be a nice change.
If "Argo" wins Oscars top prize, the director will be left watching from the wings. Ben Affleck is not nominated in the director category.
