Fireproof Producers Announce Courageous
Fans of 2008's top indie film Fireproof will be happy to know there is another faith-based film in the works from Sherwood Pictures. Sherwood Church, producers of the hit independent movie Fireproof (with Kirk Cameron) as well as Flywheel (DVD only) and Facing the Giants, announced the theme and title for Courageous, Sherwood Pictures' fourth movie at its Sunday evening service tonight. The announcement was made collectively by Senior Pastor Michael Catt, Executive Pastor Jim McBride, and ministers Stephen and Alex Kendrick who make up the leadership team of Sherwood Pictures.
Courageous a Movie About Fatherhood
"The movie is about fatherhood and the title is one word: Courageous," Alex Kendrick stated, explaining that Courageous is about four fathers who are in law enforcement and who go through a terrible tragedy. "They begin looking at their role as fathers . . . and they begin challenging one another to fulfill God's intention for fathers."
Fathers to Rise with Courage
Pastor Catt explained that the movie title echoes God's call for men to "rise with courage" in their homes and as leaders. Filming of Courageous will begin in March of 2010 in Albany, Georgia, where Sherwood Church is located.
The Sherwood studio depends upon on volunteers from the church for casting and stage crews. Their last movie,Fireproof was so successful it spawned two books and an iPhone app. Christian distributors Provident Films will market Courageous.
