Pro Tour 'Gatecrash' deck tech: 'Esper Control' with Ben Stark

Today Feb. 16, 2013 during day two of "Magic: The Gathering" Pro Tour "Gatecrash" Ben Stark made top eight of the Pro Tour with Esper Control. Brian David-Marshall spoke with Stark about his deck during the live coverage of the event.

The deck wins with Nephalia Drownyard. "Killing people with land," is how Stark describes it. Every other card in the deck supports this uncounterable long-term path to victory.

You'll wipe the board numerous times with Supreme Verdict and Planar Cleansing. If that wasn't enough card advantage, try reusing the deck's many instant removal spells thanks to Snapcaster Mage and Restoration Angel or casting a giant Sphinx's Revlelation.

"Planar Cleansing is going to take care of Huntmaster, Oblivion Ring, and your Garruk," explained Stark about the card choice. Planar Cleansing also hits other important non-creature permanents like Detention Sphere or an opposing Jace, Memory Adept.
