Professional skateboarder Paul Rodriguez Jr., who recently won street  gold at the X Games 15 has released a new signature shoe, the Zoom Air III, by Nike Skateboarding.

The new sneaker, offered in three different color schemes, became available in stores last week and sells for about $100.

To promote the new swooshed merchandise, Nike SB unleashed a new commercial featuring cameos by basketball superstar Kobe Bryant and rap musician/producer/actor Ice Cube

The ad is essentially a music video over Ice Cube’s popular single “It Was a Good Day” (from his 1993 album “Predator”), with the film showing P-Rod sessioning different street spots around the city of Los Angeles.

With three different edits – two for TV with 60-second each, and a 2:20 extended web version – the commercial has appearances by others skaters as well: Nike SB teammate Eric Koston, Theotis Beasley and, portraying – of all roles – a police officer, none other than vert legend Lance Mountain.

Check the extended version below.

For the other cuts of the commercial, additional behind-the-scenes footage, P-Rod's comments on the shoe improvements (and on rubbing shoulders with celebrities), more pictures of the sneaker (the red one would look better with black laces) and other related goodies, head to the Nike SB web site

Like other fellow Brazilian skaters living in SoCal these days, before coming to US, Luiz paid his dues in his home country. After publishing his own fanzine, he got hired by local Yeah! magazine as a photographer and writer. A year later, he got picked up by Skatin' and soon became its award...
