Pro-Pet LLC is recalling certain dog and cat food products due to a possible salmonella contamination.
The recalled Pro-Pet products include only products that were produced during on 2 dates. Other products by this company are considered safe. There have been no reports of any illnesses connected to the recalled products at this time.
In addition to a concern about pets when it comes to products contaminated with salmonella, any human handling the contaminated product should be aware of the dangers to them. Washing hands after handling any product is important is these instances.
The following is from the report concerning this recall:
Pets with Salmonella infections may be lethargic and have diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, fever, and vomiting. Some pets will have only decreased appetite, fever and abdominal pain. Infected but otherwise healthy pets can be carriers and infect other animals or humans. If your pet has consumed the recalled product and has these symptoms, please contact your veterinarian.
