Pro hockey rumors abound in Rio Rancho

Does Philadelphia's franchise have plans to move an affiliate team to New Mexico?

Is a new professional hockey team taking up residence at the Santa Ana Star Center?

Rumors of the return of pro hockey to Rio Rancho in the 2010-2011 season are all over the internet this week, including some not so subtle hints on the New Mexico Scorpions Facebook fan page.

Talk of a new league and a new team are the topics of conversation today.  Hockey gossips are touting an all but done deal with ownership tied to the black and orange of the Philadelphia Flyers.

While no official announcements have been made, the Albuquerque Hockey Examiner can confirm that the Central Hockey League (CHL)  has no plans to be in the New Mexico hockey market as of today.  CHL Commissioner, Duane Lewis, emailed today that: "We have not sold the CHL franchise. We would love to play hockey in New Mexico but at this point we have no plan to be there."
