We in the film genre are always seeking help and support for our careers, whether we are producers, directors, writers, actors or crew. We find help through many groups on the Internet, and while some are not of great help to our needs, others provide invaluable connections and information that is vital for us. The Facebook group, "Pro Films" is one of those particular groups.
Pro Films was founded by Dr. Diane Howard, whose background in the film and education industry is outstanding. Her IMDb site gives the following mini bio of Dr. Howard.
"Dr. Diane Howard has been a Professor of Performance, Media, and Film Studies. She has earned her Ph.D. in Performance Studies in the College of Communication at the University of Texas, Austin. She is a feature film dialogue/dialect/acting coach. She has also been involved in all aspects of filmmaking, regionally to internationally, and has served most extensively in the following roles: producer, director, dialogue/dialect/acting coach, public relations specialist, writer, adviser, consultant, instructor, and talent."
Dr. Howard welcomes new members in her "Pro Film" group in facebook, with the following stipulations.
"Please read and adhere to the guidelines in this File, including the comments. In this friendly site for all ages, we have inviting headshots or engaging photos of us at work as crew or filmmakers as our Facebook profile photos. This is because we are a professional talent, crew, and filmmaking networking group for all ages. If members want to share their Fan/FB, IMDb, or other pages or Web sites, they can add them to the appropriate ongoing files. Only those who have appropriate profile photos will be retained in this group.
We have professional members from all over the country and globe. The best talent and filmmakers in high-quality, redemptive filmmaking are part of this group. I try to keep this site highly-organized, professional, and all-age friendly so that members of all ages and levels of experience can easily find daily current job postings and so that casting directors can efficiently use this site to post jobs and find professional talent and crew.
Please post your personal/professional information in the appropriate files/lists in alphabetical order. Contribute to documents as threads, making sure to stay on topic in the threads or files. We are a media and film community, so feel free to upload appropriate photos and videos to the photo/video section, as well. Try to contribute what is appropriate in the appropriate places.
Please review the Netiquette for this group. I will remove people from this site who do not communicate respectfully and professionally. If you are wondering whether or not something you would like to post is appropriate or not, please send me a private message. I will also delete members with inappropriate profile photos. If at some point I delete members due to inappropriate profile photos for this site, they can reapply later when appropriate profile photos for this group are used.
I try very hard to post only legitimate, reputable, paid work by ethical, professional people. I work hard to research projects and personnel. I am especially protective of young people in this biz and those new to our industry. Please help me to keep this site safe, professional, and ethical.
With Ongoing Support and High Standards for All Ages of Professionals in Redemptive Filmmaking, Dr. Diane Howard
