Yesterday was the anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, a document that gave official notice to the English crown that the colonies in North America intended to form their own nation.
Normally, the Fourth of July includes the proud display of the American flag. Yet, protesters near the Murrieta Border Patrol station took the occasion, ironically, to set fire to Old Glory. Breitbart reports:
Opponents of illegal immigration had gathered in Murrieta to stop Friday's planned transfer of Central American illegal aliens, as they did earlier this week. A pro-amnesty counter-demonstration was organized in response.
The illegal aliens, many of them unaccompanied children, are being brought from overcrowded Texas detention facilities for processing in California.
In addition, Breitbart News obtained photographs of torn-up flags that pro-amnesty demonstrators had impaled on a fence.
Bonnie Lewis, an anti-immigration activist, told Breitbart News that she saw one of the pro-amnesty activists dragging an American flag on the ground.
"I said: 'Hey, don't do that.' He said: 'That's where it belongs,'" she said.
Another anti-illegal immigration activist said that pro-amnesty demonstrators called her a "f***ing whore" i Spanish, and shouted, "F*** America!"
On Wednesday, IBD reported on another aspect of the growing tension between warring parties amassing at the U.S. border. In this case, one faction was doctors and nurses treating children who presented with infectious diseases at a detention camp. On the opposite side were government officials telling health workers to keep a lid on their findings:
Give us your poor, your tired, your infected.
Last weekend, at least two confirmed cases of the swine flu virus were detected in minors being held in two separate detainment facilities in South Texas, a stark reminder that the conditions created by President Obama’s orchestrated invasion of the U.S. are ripe for viral outbreaks that jeopardize the health of American citizens.
It was reported last week that at least one swine flu diagnosis cropped up at the makeshift immigrant-processing center at the Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. As reported by Fox News’ Todd Starnes, doctors and nurses working there were threatened with arrest if they talked about the appalling conditions and the health risks posed by such stopgap encampments.
J.E. Dyer notes in her report earlier this morning that one border agent is now infected with scabies and head lice contracted from the incoming hordes of immigrants.
