What is a trophy? A trophy is a reward for a specific achievement, and serves as recognition or evidence of merit. What about a trophy wife? Unlike the stellar meaning of the coveted reward that anyone would be proud to own, a trophy wife is a bit of a derogatory term for a wife, usually young and attractive, who is regarded as a status symbol for the husband, who is often older and wealthy.

Referring to a spouse as a trophy wife usually reflects negatively on the character of the husband, and showcases narcissism and desire to impress others, it can also be used to imply that the trophy wife in mind has little personal merit besides her physical attractiveness. Both the newly married Kanye West and the soon-to-be- married Future would agree that this part obviously doesn’t apply to their women.

Released on April 8, 2014" I Won" serves as the sixth single from Nayvadius "Future" Wilburn second album, Honest. The Metro Boomin produced hit features a guest appearance from fellow rapper/producer Kanye West. The song's focal point features both Future and Kanye West rapping about their respective starlet significant others, Ciara and Kim Kardashian, who they see as their "trophy wives".

Through a massive layer of auto-tune, Future takes control of the song's first part, performing romantic and sexual bars.

In his verse West cleverly pokes fun at Kardashian's athletic exes Detroit Lions running back Reggie Bush and Boston Celtics power forward Kris Humphries with the line, "I made it over NBA, NFL players so every time I score it’s like the Super Bowl".

West also makes a reference to his famous wife's sisters and mother, praising their beauty as he boasts

"You could look at Kylie, Kendall, Kourtney and Khloe, all your mama ever made was trophies, right?"

Future spoke of the song saying, during an interview stating that ""I Won" is not a love song. Instead it’s his intent to uplift women, while giving them the power to treat themselves as a trophy. Future also admitted that "I Won" confirms that a woman's confidence is beauty within itself.
