The 2014 PGA Championship will be the third time the tournament has been played at the Valhalla Country Club. The other two times were in 1996, Mark Brooks was the winner, and 2000, when Tiger Woods was the winner.
It's unclear if Tiger Woods will be playing in the 2014 PGA Championship, after he suffered back spams last week that forced him to withdraw from the WGC Bridgestone Invitational during play last Sunday. For more about Tiger Woods and the PGA Championship see Golfers who have won the PGA Championship the most times.
Tiger Woods also makes the list of the youngest golfers to ever win the PGA Championship. Tiger is still too young to make the list of the oldest golfers to win the PGA Championship, but Jack Nicklaus is on both those lists.
The total prize money up for grabs at the 2014 PGA Championship is a very cool $10 million. The prize money is up a whopping 25% over the $8 million that was up for grabs last year. The $10 million also matches the 2014 Players Championship prize money for the richest tournament on the PGA Tour this year.
The prize money for the winner is set in stone. The prize money for other slots is based upon past payouts and can vary a slight bit based upon things like ties and how many players actually make the cut.
