The following is a list of the prize money that tennis players are competing for at the 2013 U.S. Open, which will run from August 26 to September 9, in singles play. The total payout at the 2013 U.S. Open for all players will be $34.3 million, an increase of nearly 40% above the 2012 total payouts.
The men and women at the U.S. Open receive equal payouts. This is the 40th year that the U.S. Open has paid the men and the women competing at the tournament the same amount of prize money.
The money shown is not cumulative. Players only earn the amounts shown for the round they advance to.
Prize money at 2013 U.S. Open in tennis
- Winners - $2.6 million
The men's and women's winners of the singles competition at the 2013 U.S. Open will each earn $2.6 million. That is up 37% from the 2012 tournament.
- Runners-Up - $1.3 million
The men's and women's runners-up at the 3013 U.S. Open will each earn $1.3 million. That is also up 37% from 2012.
- Semifinalists - $650,000
Semifinalists at the 2013 U.S. Open will each earn $650,000, another 37% increase over 2012.
- Quarter-finalists - $325,000
Quarter-finalists will each earn $325,000 in 2013. Up 37% from 2012.
- Fourth Round - $165,000
Players advancing to the fourth round will each earn $165,000. Up 37% from 2012.
- Third Round - $93,000
Players advancing to the third round will each earn $93,000. Up 43% from 2012.
- Second Round - $53,000
Players advancing to the second round will each earn $53,000. Up 43% from 2012.
- First Round - $32,000
Just for showing up to play in the first round of the 2013 U.S. Open is worth $32,000 for each player. That is up 39% from 2012.
Prize money for qualifiers at 2013 U.S. Open
Total prize money for qualifiers at the 2013 U.S. Open is up 37% from 2012.
- First round losers - $4,100
Just for showing up to play in a first round qualifier earns each player $4,100 in 2013.
- Second round losers - $7,900
Players who won in the first round but lose in the second will each earn $7,900.
- Third round losers - $11,800
Players who win the first two rounds but lose in the third round will each earn $11,800.
- Qualifying winners - at least $32,000
Players who win all four qualifying matches are guaranteed to win at least $32,000. That is the amount players get just for showing up to play in the actual first round of the 2013 tournament.
