Its prison time for starving a girl down to 68 pounds. A Wisconsin man was just sentenced to five years in prison for starving his daughter in the home's basement. According to a report from late Wednesday (Jan. 29), this apparently went on for five years before she was able to escape their Madison home and flag down a passing motorist.
The details of the case are pretty gruesome, as the man is accused of confining her to the basement and denying her food over that time. The 15-year-old also told investigators that her stepmother beat her, her stepbrother repeatedly forced her to perform oral sex on him, and she was forced to eat her feces and drink her own urine. The accusations are extremely damning in this case.
The stepmother was already sentenced to five years in prison for her role in starving the girl after she pleaded no contest to reckless endangerment and causing mental harm to a child. As for the stepbrother, he is waiting his turn to stand trial for sexual assault charges in February.
The father has thus far been convicted of child neglect, child abuse, reckless endangerment and causing mental harm to a child. However, he was acquitted of false imprisonment and misdemeanor neglect. The charges to which he has been found guilty are all felonies in this case. His claim all along was that the girl was sexually assaulted by her stepfather when she was in Texas.
Dane County Circuit Judge Julie Genovese stated that the Madison man and his wife both deserved the same sentence of five years because that is what they stole from the girl's life. He could have faced much more prison time for starving the girl. None of the people in this case have been identified publicly in order to protect the identity of the teen.
