Prison for starving girl: 5-year prison sentence for dad who starved daughter

A dad is going to prison for starving his little girl. On Jan. 29, MSN reported that a Wisconsin father has been convicted of abuse and sentenced to five years in prison after he starved his teenage daughter down to 68 pounds. The girl's father's wife and her son also abused the girl -- physically and sexually.

"The girl told investigators she had spent most of the previous five years confined to the basement of her family's home and was denied food despite begging to eat. She said her stepmother beat her and her stepbrother repeatedly forced her to perform oral sex on him," MSN reports.

The prison sentence for starving this girl wasn't easily obtained. The man, you see, claimed that his daughter was the problem -- that she refused to eat and that she has severe psychological problems. He even said that the girl told him that she would kill the whole family in their sleep. The judge, however, felt that the case was pretty clear and while some feel that this man should have been sentenced to more than five years, others are happy to see that this girl has been rescued and that there are consequences for her family.

"[Her dad] was convicted of felony child neglect, felony child abuse, reckless endangerment and causing mental harm to a child. He was acquitted of false imprisonment and misdemeanor neglect. He faced a maximum sentence of 28 years in prison and $55,000 in fines" (MSN).

While it's prison for the dad of the starving girl, her stepbrother will be heading to court in February. Many feel that deserves time in prison for the sick things that he (allegedly) did as well. The girl's stepmother plead no contest to charges brought against her and she will also be spending five years behind bars.

According to NewsMax, the father and his wife each got five years because that's how long the young girl was abused. They got one year for every year that they abused her.
