Priscilla Settee introduces new book to Winnipeg audiences

WINNIPEG ― Priscilla Settee will be at the University of Winnipeg on March 10, 2012 (3 p.m.), to introduce her new book titled "The Strength of Women: Âhkamêyimowak."

'Âhkamêyimowak' is a Cree word that embodies the strength and persistence that drive women to carry on in the face of adversity. In this collection, the Saskatchewan educator, intellectual, activist and writer gives a voice to a wide spectrum of Aboriginal women through stories of injustice, racism, genocide, and sexism, but also of awakening, fierce struggles, and hope.

The book reading is part of Moon Voices in ACTion! Indigenous Women's Knowledge Exchange, a three-day conference led and facilitated by Indigenous women and Grandmothers. The event is open to the public.
