Eighth grader Katie Huntington scored two goals to lead the Prior Lake Lakers to a 4-1 over the St. Louis Park Orioles in a Tuesday night Senior Night game at The Rec Center.
Huntington picked up an assist on the Lakers lone first period goal. Her shot was saved by Oriole goalie Peyton Stafne and Alison Muller scored on a rebound. It would almost be a two goal lead for Prior Lake when the referee awarded a penalty shot to Andrea Citrowske. Her shot was saved by Stafne. However, the senior goalie entered the crease too early and it meant "Take two" for Citrowske. She went down the ice, took her shot and Stafne made a left side save to keep the margin at one.
The third time would be the charm for Citrowske in the second period, not on a penalty shot but on a drive from the right slot. Then Huntington would take charge for Prior Lake, scoring the next two goals. Her first goal came on a rebound and her second came while the Lakers had a 5-3 opportunity for :22 and she capitalized on it with a power play goal.
There would be no shut out that night for the Lakers sophomore goalie Miranda Pavlish. A pair of St. Louis Park seniors celebrated Senior Night by collaborating on their only goal of the game. Leah Schrank passed to Molly Arntson and Arntson's shot from the left point reached the net.
Other senior honored before the game were Stafne, Anna Basill, and Lauren Brunn-Bryant.
Prior Lake improved their record to 5-13 and will host the Eastview Lightning Thursday, January 16 in a 7 PM game at the Dakotah Ice Center. St. Louis Park fell to 3-16-1 and hosts the Irondale Knights on Saturday, January 18 at 6:30 at The Rec Center. The game as well as their final home game on January 25 will be played on the East Rink.
