Each month, in addition to featuring functional art by over 100 Arizona artists, Practical Art hosts an emerging local artist for a month long solo show.

June’s artist is print maker David Higgins. His exhibition, titled “wire(d),” transforms the eyesore of our valley’s communication system (telephone poles and their never ending wires) into beautiful works of intimate portraiture.

A mixture of black and white and sepia tones, the prints transform these benign every day objects into works of art that help to express the beauty of their under appreciated function – connecting the residents of this valley to the people and information that we need to grow as individuals and as a community.
