Academy Award® winning Producer/Writer/Director James Cameron has officially announced on Wednesday, October 27, 2010 that his next two films will be Avatar 2 and Avatar 3. It was also announced that Avatar 2 is scheduled to be released in December 2014, and Avatar 3 is scheduled for a 2015 release.
Fox Filmed Entertainment chairmen Jim Gianopulos, Tom Rothman and James Cameron made the announcement on the two picture deal. Cameron stated, “I am looking forward to returning to Pandora, a world where our imaginations can run wild. It is a rare and remarkable opportunity when a filmmaker gets to build a fantasy world, and watch it grow, with the resources and partnership of a global media company.”
James Cameron will shoot the movies starting in late 2011. He will decide whether to film the two sequels back to back after he wraps up the final drafts of the scripts. He also is teaming up with Jon Landau, a partner at Lightstorm Entertainment, to produce the film. Lightstorm partner Rae Sanchini negotiated the deal with Fox Filmed Entertainment on Lightstorm’s behalf.
Casting and auditions will take place well ahead of filming on Avatar 2 and Avatar 3. The details for talent to be considered for auditions can be found on the following Avatar 2 casting information post:

My name is Justin Horn and I currently live in Tennessee. I have absolutely no acting experience, but I'd like to audition for a part in the upcoming Avatar film. Besides having no experience with acting I have a strong drive to accomplish the goals I set out for. Alot of talent is still out here waiting to be discovered given the opportunity. I take very well to directions and that can play a major factor when on set and off. I'm honest and willing to try everything to further myself. Most of all it helps that I admire James Cameron's work. When you can understand and relate to what a person is trying to picture for the world to see it can make your views more similar and easier to work with. After all who is going to star a person in their film who has a big head and doesn't cooperate well. I'm from a small town with nothing but a walmart and a ball park. There isn't much opportunity here for people unless you get a trade or get into a family business. This is a new avenue to me as far as casting goes;however, ya never know until ya try. It would obviously be a privilege to even be considered to work on a James Cameron production.
