Princeton Review Quits Test Prep Business

Princeton Review has long been a giant in the test preparation business here in Nashville, and in the U.S. in general, for many years. The company has struggled financially the last few years. According to Education News, the company is now selling it's test prep business to a private equity group for $33 million.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Princeton Review is intending on moving it's focus from test preparation and college ranking to vocational programs and online education. This comes two years after the company purchased Penn Foster Education Group. Vocational and online education were the primary focus of Penn Foster. Princeton Review will also undergo a name change following the sale of their test preparation business.

While many here in Nashville relied on Princeton Review to prepare for high-stakes college testing, the essential demise of the company does not leave local students without support. There are several tutoring companies in Nashville that also provide test preparation services. New Point Learning Center, Sylvan Learning, and Test Masters are just a few of the options available.
