In its eleventh year, the Princess Project treats girls to complimentary boutique services ahead of their prom. For those who could not otherwise afford them, the girls are given new or nearly new dresses, accessories, and treated to a fun boutique experience.
In 2012, over 900 girls received the princess treatment, and the Princess Project looks to serve over 1000 girls in 2013. To do so, they accept donations from individuals and companies and set up in a donated retail space that's styled out to ensure a glamorous and fun prom dress and accessory fitting experience.
Ahead of the prom dress giveaway, The Princess Project's annual fundraising event helps raise funds and awareness for the charity. This year, the Princess Project Runway event is scheduled for Thursday, March 14th at Hotel Palomar's SummerSalt Rooftop Pool & Lounge from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m..
Attendees will be witness to a creative prom dress design contest among students from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandise (FIDM). The students will compete in a live interactive draping and production of a final prom dress, and will be judged by local style experts.
There will also be a specially crafted drink menu for the event from Saltbox's talented mixologists, appetizers, a silent auction, and music by DJ JoeMama and Jaby Bames.
Tickets can be purchased for this fun event at www.princessprojectsd.org, or at the door. Tickets are $20 ahead of the event, and $25 at the door. There is a $10 discount offered to students. The purchase price of the tickets also include one drawing ticket for the event's raffle.
