A never-before-seen Princess Diana "not to be published" photo has emerged and a Jan. 3 report by the Daily Mail revealed the image. A very young Diana -- who was known as Lady Diana at the time -- was around 18 or 19. The picture was dated February 26, 1981, a date believed to be when it was purchased by the buyer.
On the potentially controversial photo at the time, a message was scrawled reading "not to be published" clearly on it. Diana isn't doing anything scandalous by any means, but she's resting against a wall with a bottle of whiskey sitting on a window ledge and an unidentified guy leaning next to her reading a book. It's enough to raise eyebrows for the British monarchy, however.
The man thought to be in the photo with Princess Diana could be an old boyfriend - Rory Scott or close friend, James Colthurst. A Swiss ski resort is also believed to be where the photo was taken.
RR Auctions in Hampshire will auction off the unpublished photo as a "salacious teenage image of the future princess."
A spokesman for the auction said typically something like this would go for $1,000. Since the picture reads "not to be published" on it, there's a high probability it will go for much more.
