Princess Diana was born on July 1, 1961. She married Prince Charles on July 29, 1981 and died in an automobile accident on August on 31,1997. In honor of the 13th anniversary of her death, we will take a look at some of the Princess Diana dolls issued before and after her death. Goldberger Princess Diana Dolls
Goldberger Doll Manufacturing Co. issued their first Diana dolls in 1982. The Diana wedding doll was reissued in 1997 as the Original Historic Commemorative, The Royal Britannia Collection of Diana, Princess of Wales.
Franklin Mint Princess Diana Dolls
In June 1997, just a couple of months before she died, Diana auctioned off 79 of her famous evening gowns for charity at Christie’s in New York. The Franklin Mint purchased one of those gowns, and the "Diana Princess of Wales Porcelain Portrait Doll" was one of the first dolls issued after the death of Diana. The 17" doll wears a replica of the beaded gown and bolero jacket purchased by the Franklin Mint.

The Franklin Mint also created the Princess Diana Vinyl Portrait Doll collection of 16" dolls and outfits.
Street Players Diana, Princess of Wales
Street Players released some 11" Diana dolls in 1997 including one in Diana's wedding doll; one wearing a white gown with white fur collar and silver crown; and a Diana doll wearing a black formal.
Way Out Toys Royal Diana Dolls
At the lower end of the line was Way Out Toys with several cheap 11" Royal Diana Dolls wearing outfits that only vaguely resembled some of Diana's outfits.
Other Princess Diana Dolls
Other unique Princess Diana dolls include the Princess Diana Talking Action Figure and the Princess Diana Porcelain doll by J. Misa. Teddy bears, Beanie Babies, paper dolls and many other Princess Di dolls have been issued, providing doll collectors with a variety of ways to add a Princess Diana doll to their collections.
