Princess Charlene of Monaco never looked better as she hosted the 63rd Annual Red Cross Ball in Monte Carlo on August 5th. Her look showed why she was selected by Vanity Fair for their International Best Dressed list 2011.
Charlene selected a vibrant fuchsia silk dupioni silk design by Akris. Akris is a favorite designer for the Princess and they are known for their creativity and quality. The upper portion of the gown was strapless and had a form fitted silhouette which flaired out in pleating at the bottom. The gown was created by Albert Kriemler.
She accented with a custom-made Van Cleef & Arpels neck collar that swirled with both diamonds and sapphires. There were 88 round diamonds, 10 pears and 359 sapphires. The piece also converts into a tiara. The sparkling jewel was gifted to Charlene from Prince Albert. The necklace was designed to evoke memories of the ocean with the swirling blue and clear design.
Charlene added an elongated satin matching clutch. She wore her hair in waves and parted to the side. The overall look was simply exquisite. It was nice to see her take a bit more of a fashion risk in the color and design of her gown. Well done!
