Princess Caroline wins award for charity work

HRH Princess Caroline, Hereditary Princess of Monaco, received The Menschen in Europa (People In Europe) Award this week.  Undoubtedly making the event extra special for the Princess was that the award was given to her by one of her closest friends, designer Karl Lagerfeld.  During a presentation in Germany, the designer praised the Princess’ longstanding commitment to helping children in need, primarily as President of Amande Mondiale.  When the Princess took to the stage she commented that, “There’s still much to do,” and too many are suffering from poverty, hunger, violence and sexual exploitation.  How does she do it?

“My mother taught me that love is the foundation for children, the most important thing on their way to being responsible, happy adults.”

Mr. Lagerfeld also gave a rare glimpse into their close friendship in his remarks:

“The Princess is my dearest friend.  We have never had a row in 30 years, that is very rare for me.”

Amande Mondiale was founded in 1963 by the late Princess Grace.
