Prince William and Kate Middleton add a new member to the family

Prince William and his wife of nearly one year, the Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton, have announced they are parents to a new baby in the family.  This baby is of the four-legged variety, however; a black Cocker Spaniel by the name of Lupo.  And this adorable little pooch is already an internet sensation with his own Twitter account.

Wills and Kate are sure to have Lupo acting like a well-mannered royal pet in no time with the best dog trainers of any princely pooch.  Unfortunately, residents of northern California will have to be satisfied with the equally fantastic puppy trainers on this side of the pond for their own canine members of the family.

For kids that love animals, a new puppy can be exciting, put they are also lots of work.  Sometimes a book about a puppy is enough until a child is ready to handle at least some of the responsibilites that come with being a pet owner.

The San Francisco Children's Fiction Examiner provides the following list of twelve children's books about puppies for those that already own a dog or those that want to wait a bit longer.  Perhaps these books will be added to the library of Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge's library when they become the parents of a human baby.

Little Puppy (Mini Look At Me Books) by L. Rigo (Barron's Educational Series, 2012)  This board book is perfect for the littlest readers.  Thepictures of mother and puppy are charming and the simple text is appropriate for wiggly babies.
