Once SXSW gets underway in Austin, it's like jumping into a moving train at full speed. Thousands of people fill the streets and venues to capacity and there are no hotel rooms or parking to be found anywhere in town. SXSW brings big name comedians, actors and musicians to Austin, TX. Celebrity sightings are common and several artists give surprise performances you wish you could have known about ahead of time. Oftentimes, these performances are even free of charge and don't require any special badges or bracelets. You only have to be fortunate enough to get the location and time before the venue is full. So far this week, I have been fortunate enough to hold Grumpy Cat, chat with Scumbag Steve, and spotted Josh Duhamel with Fergie, Nathan Fillion, Jeffrey Tambor, Ashton Kutcher, Shaq, and attended a great panel with Matthew McConaughey as guest speaker on Sunday.
After five days of Interactive and technology at Austin’s SXSW, it’s time to turn up the volume and bring on the music. I have received definite confirmation that Prince will bring his 22-piece band to La Zona Rosa on Saturday, March 16. Prince's performance will begin at 9pm although that could be subject to change. After a visit to the venue, La Zona Rosa, it most definitely appears as though work is underway accommodate this epic performance. Prince's performance will arguably be one of the biggest shows in SXSW history.
Other artists scheduled to perform at SXSW this year are Depeche Mode, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Flaming Lips, Vampire Weekend, Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds, Dave Grohl’s Sound City Players, and Green Day.
