Prince Harry is "a jackal," according to Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, the former prime minister of Afghanistan. He said, "The British Prince comes to kill innocent Afghans while he is drunk." Hekmatyar continued, "But he does not understand this simple fact that the hunting of Afghan lions and eagles is not that easy! Jackals cannot hunt lions." The cruel words came as Harry spent the holidays in Afghanistan, where he is serving his second tour of duty as gunship co-pilot.
According to a Jan. 1, 2013 report by The Daily Mail, Hekmatyar is "one of America's most-wanted global terrorists." Although Hekmatyar himself is currently in hiding, he mocked Prince Harry for "searching for a hole in which to hide himself." He was likely referring to reports that a member of the Taliban allegedly said, "We are using all our strength to get rid of him [Prince Harry], either by killing or kidnapping." This incident took place in September 2012, shortly after he arrived in Afghanistan.
The 27-year-old royal had already served there in 2007 and 2008. He was deployed for an additional tour of duty as the co-pilot of an Apache attack helicopter last year. Harry arrived at his destination aboard a standard troop flight on Fri., Sept. 7, 2012. At the time, it was rumored that the timing of his redeployment was related to his nude photo scandal when he and group of friends engaged in a naked romp in a Las Vegas hotel room with a bevy of unclothed girls whom they had met in the hotel pool. Unfortunately for the prince, several guests at the impromptu Las Vegas gathering took photos and video of the incident, and those media swiftly found their way online. However, the Royal Palace did not confirm any link between the incident and his redeployment.
Does Gulbuddin Hekmatyar have the right or any basis to call Prince Harry a jackal? Your comments are welcome.
