Prince Haakon and Princess Mette-Marit release CD for charity

TRH Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit have announced a unique fundraising project for their charity fund.  They will be releasing a Christmas CD titled “We Light Our Lamps” in a few days to help raise money for disadvantage young people.  The couple, having come up with the idea themselves, recruited singers from Norway who the couple felt would reach a younger audience:  Ida Jenshus, Gunhild Sundli, Thomas Dybdahl, Moddi, Samsaya, Marit Larsen & Garness, Ingrid Olava, Katzenjammer, Stein Torleif Bjella and Vinni.  In a statement announcing the album the Crown Princess said:

“Working with youth is both one of the most important things we do… through the fund, we want to ensure that young people are seen, so they can use their capabilities and contribute to the community. It is then when we will be better equipped to create the Norway we want for the future.”

The album is a mix of newer material and new spins on old folk songs and is getting generally very good reviews.
