The Prince Fielder divorce news almost came out of the bag last week when Torri Hunter defended his Detroit Tigers' teammate as someone playing hard despite problems at home. Now, the Heritage Newspapers Press reported on Aug. 20 that Fielder has filed for divorce from his wife.
The Prince Fielder divorce was filed in May, but the couple kept it quiet up until now. However, this might be the reason that he has been playing so poorly over the last couple of months.
On the season, Fielder is batting .260 with 19 home runs and 85 RBIs. Those numbers look pretty good, but over the last 30 days, his numbers are .239, four and 17. It has been that way since almost the All Star Break. He has only hit 10 home runs since April and is on pace for the lowest hitting percentages of his career.
It is not unheard of to see a player's numbers drop when off-the-field problems get the best of them. It is no one's business when it comes to Fielder's personal life, or his divorce, or his problems at home. At the same time, it has to be discouraging for him to see his professional life falter possibly as the outcome.
The Prince Fielder divorce affects him, and as a child of a divorced couple, he has to know the effect it is having on his children. This could really be the cause of his dip in production, all of which means nothing as far as Fielder's life and future is concerned.
