Our progressive governor and his house of lords have completed their work in the dark of night. They worked furiously to exploit the Sandy Hook tragedy under cover of darkness to expand their powers. By Wednesday afternoon their work was completed. Cuomo signed into law the removal of our second amendment rights. These laws not only infringe on our right to bear arms but make it unlawful own, purchase or sell guns at their whim they deem unlawful. What was their excuse for taking away rights that are not the governments to barter? Why of course the fall back position when fast and furious failed to stir up emotions like 20 dead children can, Sandy Hook. That would be in Newtown Connecticut outside the jurisdiction of New York laws.
Now the citizens of New York State must bow to their local administrators every five years for the privilege of defending themselves. Will Cuomo and his house of lords ensure our protection from crime? Does anyone think Cuomo will reduce his armed guards now that “good people can win” as he stated while taking our protection away. Who will protect us from the criminals like Webster sniper who should have been executed for murder but the progressives like Cuomo wanted life without parole. How did that work out? What protection can we count on now that progressives like Cuomo have moved the mentally ill out of hospitals into supervised adult homes and now into unsupervised community homes in our neighborhoods? When the gangs of New York fail to turn up in droves to register their weapons and seconds count will the police still arrive in minutes? Besides crime, who will protect us when Albany decides we don’t really need the rest of our God given rights. Can we call 911 and request the National Guard?
We all know the answers to the rhetorical questions above. Nothing, they really don’t care about the people that elected them, the taxpayer or the middle class. Cuomo and his ilk feel that by joining the parasites and those easily fooled to garner 51% of the vote they have a mandate to do as they please. But turning 4.5 million New York gun owners into criminals just might have crossed the line. Even if these new laws are found constitutional who will enforce it? Now gun owners are not going to lay siege to Albany they will just ignore an unjust law. It took Canada ten years to realize that only ten percent of Canadians would willingly turn in their guns before giving up. How long will it take Cuomo and company?
