HSH Prince Albert of Monaco and Charlene Wittstock will be the focus of the world’s attention on July 9th, 2011. It is that day when one of the most anticipated royal weddings in the past fifty years will take place in Monaco. The palace put out a statement reading that “The prince’s palace announced that the religious marriage of His Royal Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco and Miss Charlene Wittstock will be celebrated on Saturday, July 9, 2011. A civil marriage will be held the previous day, Friday, July 8, at the prince’s palace.”
Since the couple’s long awaited engagement, they have looked more relaxed and happy. Both giving rare personal interviews and then being photographed dancing together at an Iggy Pop concert (complete with the Prince’s sister, HRH Princess Caroline). To a French newspaper the Prince acknowledged knowing “the Monegasque population was waiting for this moment.” Charlene stated that “I feel great joy and emotion as you can imagine. I know it is an important moment for the people of Monaco. I’ll do anything to be worthy of their expectations.” As the wedding approaches, the Royal Examiner will bring you the details.
